The Smith Glide Jr leans into protection without making kids hate wearing it. It combines MIPS for rotational impact protection with a shell that handles direct hits, all in a lightweight, low-profile package. The fit adjusts quickly, which helps keep things moving when getting kids ready.
The liner is warm enough that most kids won’t need a beanie underneath, which simplifies getting out the door. Ventilation is solid and helps reduce goggle fogging during long days on the mountain. Just note that, unlike many adult helmets, the vents don’t close, so temperature control is limited on colder days.
The fit runs on the slimmer side. That works well for many kids, but it may not be ideal for rounder head shapes or if your child prefers a thicker balaclava.
