$1,799.00

What We Love

  • Excellent value
  • Carries two kids and heavy loads with ease
  • Class 3 speed and impressive battery range

Worth Knowing

  • Moto isn't as smooth as pricier bikes
  • Some components feel cheap
  • Ride lacks the refinement of premium models

The Lectric XPedition2 is cheap by e-cargo bike standards. It is the least expensive model that still delivers the carrying capacity and durability needed to work as a dependable family hauler.

The rear rack can be configured to carry two children, among other cargo, while the 450-pound total payload leaves plenty of capacity for an adult rider, school bags, groceries, and everyday gear. Add a set of panniers, and the bike becomes even more useful for errands and school runs.

It is also a Class 3 e-bike capable of providing pedal assistance up to 28 mph, which is uncommon among cargo bikes. The dual-battery version, which is the standard configuration, has an exceptionally long claimed range of up to 120 miles. Actual range will vary considerably depending on cargo weight, terrain, speed, and how much assistance you use.

The lower price comes with compromises. The motor delivers plenty of power, but the assistance can feel inconsistent and lacks the smooth, predictable delivery of more expensive bikes. Many of the components also have a noticeably cheaper feel, with the brakes being a notable exception.

Those shortcomings aren't insignificant, but they don't undermine what makes the XPedition2 such a good value. It is a reliable workhorse with the speed, range, and carrying capacity to replace everyday car trips, at a price that makes e-cargo bike ownership accessible to far more families.
