The Copilot Ski Trainer is one of the few training tools that helps without getting in the way of how kids learn to ski. Unlike backpack-style leashes, this attaches at the boots, not the upper body. That difference matters. It lets kids move naturally while you control speed from behind, instead of pulling them upright or off balance. The result is better posture, better balance, and fewer bad habits to undo later. It’s most useful in the early days on gentle terrain, but it doesn’t stop there. It also works as a safeguard as kids start exploring more challenging runs. You can leave the leash slack most of the time and step in on short, steeper sections where their legs aren’t strong enough to control speed. That opens up more terrain without pushing them past their limits. It’s also valuable in crowded conditions. Having the ability to check speed or stop a child quickly when something unpredictable happens in front of them adds a layer of control you don’t get otherwise. This is still a short-term tool. As skills improve, it should be used less and eventually phased out. But compared to traditional harnesses, it supports progression instead of getting in the way of it.
